Have you read Westcott Prepatory Academy and it's sequel? That's one of my favourite Dean!whump verses. It's set pre-series and John does feature heavily in it, but if you haven't read it, I suggest you give it a try. It's a slow process of Dean dealing with diabetes and it tackles the issues very realistically and it's more permanent illness than injury, but it's amazing and long (200k+)
