Characterisation and context and emotion are SUPER important. I recently read a kinky fic in another fandom that had great characterisation and great character interaction, but the context was vague and there was no real explanation or justification for why character A wanted a quite strange arrangement with character B. Things were implied, but I was expecting the heart-to-heart scene that reveals all and it just never came.

Anyway, I'm glad my post was interesting and that parts of it resonated with you :)

I've been thinking about this since you posted it - mostly about how to try to understand something new and different, how to immerse yourself in a new idea, appreciate something you only tolerated before. I'm so glad you wrote it.

Thank you :) I learned early on that there are some kinks that I could only read if written by a specific author or with a specific pairing, so for me the enjoyment of a kink lies very much in the telling.
