Jared saw the anger in Stephen’s eyes. “Back off Jay, she’s mine.” He felt the weird need to stay there; he couldn’t just let him hurt the girl

Jared got dressed even if he rather sat there ignoring everyone for as long as they let him, he even ate some of the sandwiches and all the juice was gone by the time the door opened

Jensen arrived the Angels territory earlier, not even sure why, and right now after greeting his friends and those who knew him; he was pacing on the same small space of maybe ten feet; A sight for every person to see. Several amused and curious were staring at him, wondering if he went nuts or was just worried about his trainee, he wanted to surprise Claire, and needed to prepare Rachel’s funeral; she died a hero and she’ll be buried like that

Jared was nervous, arriving to find the girl in the green eyed- Jensen-‘s arms was just the first of many surprises. He felt like everyone was looking at him, blaming him for what happened; the death of both the high alpha and his daughter, there were two funerary pyres, one was the special one of a high alpha, the other was even higher and more ornate, the Pyre of a hero, Jared thought it made no sense, she was after all only a beta

Jensen wasn’t pack, that’s why he and others, mostly all guards left the ceremony as soon as the bodies were lit, so the close friends and family, real pack could bid their kin farewell without meddling glances

Jared sat on the table where his new friends pulled him, he was just looking around avoiding eye contact by the time he was offered venison by no other than Jensen. Jared felt like running away, he couldn’t even pay attention to the alpha speaking or when the guy asked Claire something, or when that other lady… a beta asked them to be quiet, he only remembers the eyes on him before the silence fell, as if people were judging him for being there

Ten days before he could stop by Claire’s to once more practice the precepts of the guard. “I prayed for your safe return!” she said hugging him before moving to Osric and do the same, the shorter boy smiled brightly and blushed

Jared felt betrayed when Claire told the alpha his name after the first night, he was furious and once the alpha mocked him and left he cornered his new friend “you had no right

Jensen felt giddy as he went home after seeing Jared. It was a strange change for him, before all this, before the boy, he only wanted one thing, to serve and protect, and be a decent guard so he could one day be a councilman. No more, no less, just that, and then maybe find a decent beta to share his life with, but now his place was not warm enough. His Spartan belongings were not enough either and he felt that no matter what his life won’t be complete anymore

Jared heard the news, like everything else it had to do with the festival; another pack will be included by the first moon festival in less than a week. Everyone was excited about what new things, new knowledge this people would bring, or what kind of trophies would the guards carry with them for the festival

Jensen couldn’t see straight after he scented blood, he felt the smell before and he had to protect the source at all cost

It took him a long time to decide if he wanted to see his father and his once friends again he was sitting at the edge of the bed half dressed when Claire knocked the door and entered. “Are you ready?” Jared just shook his head no. “Neither do I, I don’t know how I feel about them

Jensen woke up, he felt miserable and his entire body hurt. The day of the festival was fastly approaching and the arrows’ alphas had to be dealt with before it
