This is lovely. I enjoyed the branch and the rubble saving Dean. and Also Sam enjoying his cataloguing task! He so would!! That's so Sam!! And aw, John and Dean's reactions were just right. Lovely fic!

Hopefully I got a little bit of the humorous side worked in, the absurdity of stuff falling on things to save Dean again and again. So glad you liked the characterization in this (and thank you for the encouragement!)

Of course Sam kept it, he was totally freaked at seeing Dean hurt like that for the first time. Like that they let Sam help by listing the items, after making sure they were safe. Dean's promise at the end hurt.

It just never occurred to Dean or John Sam would deliberately try and activate one of the objects.

Ow, I know, the ending. I can't seem to shake off recent canon. I'm traumatized. O.o
