This is why I need references, badly.

The most simple reason I need lots of references, as close to the picture I'm drawing as possible, especially in what they're wearing, is because I can't fold cloth in my brain. I love *drawing* folds of cloth, but they have to be right there. I can't look at a joint or imagine a puff of wind and know what any given fabric is going to do in that ( Read more... )

As someone who sews more than I draw, I still have this same problem. It's frustrating. And most of my drawing books are just naked people. XD

Although, that just gave me the idea that maybe I should draw from sewing and design books. Hmm.

And now I'm thinking I should just draw naked people. It's easier to find anatomy refs, relatively speaking.

I recently bought this book: http://books.google.com/books/about/Wrap_drape_fashion.html?id=W8toPAAACAAJ ...really as a reference for clothing design, but the illustrations are pretty clear, so it might still be useful to you despite it's limitations.
