I do sometimes wonder if it is a factor distorting the writing.

I know that if I'm on meme on one of its wankier days and go to try to write fic, I'm likely to be either completely disaffected with the whole show, or in some kind of E*G rage, sometime even several contradictory forms of E*G rage, and if I try to compensate by being superbalanced it just comes out wooden and unconvincing. Writers don't start out from the kind of place of fannish investment I do, but, IDK. It doesn't seem like a promising atmosphere to be working in, especially given the seeming lack of canon immersion in the writing practices around the show.

If I were showrunner, I would be very tempted to have a policy that writers not have Twitters, Tumblrs, etc. /is obviously censoring tyrant

lol I'm sorry for always talking about it but: I really like what Elementary does for their social networking. They have a single twitter for their whole writing staff, and primarily use it to promote the show, give BTS factoids, and answer fan questions. Without identifying who's tweeting what you don't get that vibe like the SPN writers sometimes give of dropping teasers and fanservicey jokes to ~win fans, in order to get (when they're not outright begging for) a higher follower count. It comes across as way more professional, imo.

Do you suppose the people who sell jerseys ever actually make any money from spamming fandom anon memes and such with jersey stuff? It is baffling to me that the spambots don't develop AI and realize that their labors are meaningless and go on strike or spontaneously combust or something.

IDK, I just find these funny. I guess it's the surrealism of manga/anime/chibis/etc

I am attempting and failing to read a journal article about the Glee kinkmeme. It's no wonder no one takes fan studies seriously - so much of the "scholarship" out there isn't even grammatically correct, much less knowledgeable or insightful. Not, I suppose, that someone without any background in fandom would know the difference, but then you still have this problem where nobody even punctuates correctly.

/still bitter about that really, really dumb article in the OTW journal about SPN mpreg

Fallen London nonnie can't decide whether to go along with the Cheesemonger in her plan to wreak havoc in the Great Game or to hand the whole thing over to her daughter. I expect the former will lead to more story than the latter? But IDK! /o\

I've only just started on the Cheesemonger quest myself, it's taking so long to grind everything.

When people are editing and re-editing their prompts/fills on the kinkmeme I'm often tempted to reply to the comment just so they can't keep doing it. However, the fills/prompts in question are often not my sort of thing (which is why their notifications get deleted, which is why every edit pops up as a new thing over and over again) so it would feel a little dishonest to do so.

da

I wish there were more Supernatural prompts. I'm interested to see what could be done with the Kevin Tran one but it's not something I could do more myself. I'd be interested in any meta prompts to do with women or with symbolism for Sam and Dean though.
