A Mother's Love...

It's obviously been spurred on by recent events, but lately, I've been thinking about Mary--and in particular, Mary's relationship with Dean. While she didn't get to see him grow up, we've been given more and more fascinating tidbits of what a Winchester childhood (sans dead mother) was like. So, today, these recs all focus on Mary and wee!Dean, and the very special (and all-too-short) time they had together. Adorable and bittersweet at the same time, I hope you find something that touches you as these works have all touched me.

And by all means, REC ME MORE. These are just a few, and I know there must be more out there...and I'm really hoping for a resurgence of such fic now!

Longing [ART] by riama82 (G, wee!Dean, Mary)
"When I would get sick, you would make me tomato-rice soup..."
A stunning drawing that evokes such sweetness and such sadness (since we all know what's going to happen) at the same time.

Perfect by withthatfacade (G, wee!Dean, Mary)
Dean wails long and loud when he is born, his tiny hands balled into fists, his eyes screwed shut.
Just a snippet, but so perfect (see: title) in its simplicity and beauty. A wonderful snapshot.

The Most Important Thing by yesterday4 (PG-13, wee!Dean, Mary)
Wee-chesters. In the month prior to Sam's birth, Dean is having his doubts about the whole baby gig. It's up to Mary to ease them.
This is my absolute favorite Mary and Dean fic in the WORLD. Dean is only four here, but the author has his voice down perfectly--the doubts and fears associated with no longer being his mother's only little guy are spot-on, and by the end, we get a true sense of the man Dean will grow into. Just a fabulous piece.

The New Neighbors by sams1ra (G, wee!Dean, Mary)
"Dean, no!" Mary snapped just as the boy was about to dip his chubby fingers into the pie she was holding in her other hand. "This is for our new neighbors."
Another great moment between Dean and Mary, where Dean is his adorably rascally self. :)
