I love the way this opens, with Castiel standing watch, and then the shifting of the guards--Castiel's ruminations on the vagaries of all the people in camp, the comparisons he draws between himself now and in the past. My favorite part of this was what you did with Sam and Gabriel's meeting, as told by Lucifer. It's so easy to forget that at 5x04, no one's seen the trickster since Mystery Spot, and that's not an experience, or a grudge, that Sam is likely to forget--even if it's something that predates Castiel (and Castiel's knowledge of him) entirely. Great work!

I loved the opportunity to do this. The idea of them meeting like this was just too cool to pass up.

I will always love end!verse

What an awesome and painful fic!

I always enjoy a good endverse story and you tackled this perfectly. I loved the beginning with Cas on watch and the powerful imagery of the dreamscapes.

The characterizations were spot on; from Cas and Dean, to Gabriel and of course Lucifer and Sam.

The ending was painfully sad but in all best ways - I'm so full of feels! Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed the read. Take care, :)

Thanks so much! I do love writing end!verse stories.

Dreams are one of my very favorite things to write-and the dreams of an angel (even a powerless one) must be fascinating.

I think it's interesting how Lucifer is the angel who is the best to his vessel. He doesn't lie to them, he lets them sleep when he's destroying the world.

An excellent observation!
I would have loved to have seen more of end!verse's Lucifer!Sam, so any chance to write him is one I I have a hard time passing up ; )
