Project Urban Legend

Campaign name: Project Urban Legend
Type: Postcard
Target: Dawn Ostroff a.k.a. The CW Network

You know how an Urban Legend starts? Actually, no one does; it appears mysteriously as if out of thin air, and then it spreads; by word of mouth, by the internet, and even by mail. The more that people know about it, the better and more real it becomes, so why don't we spread a few of our own?

The fact is that if we want a season 3(and beyond) of Supernatural then we fans are going to have to let the network know it, but many people feel intimidated by the idea of writing a long formal letter, so let's try something a little smaller and more creative? Let's try sending postcards (see, nice and short) with urban legends/ghost stories on them! I propose that we get postcards with our city/town/village on the front (networks like to know where their viewers are), and an urban legend/ghost story -- native to your location -- on the back. And at the bottom of this card, the following message:

"Without the Winchesters, who will hunt the demon/ghost/witch ?"
Keep this road trip going!
SUPERNATURAL SEASON 3

Since hitting the network at once will be the most effective, I think that sending the cards the first week of March would be best; the February sweep numbers will be in and the network will begin making their decisions about what shows stay as they prepare for the May up-fronts.

Once everyone has sent their cards, I would like to ask that you send me the urban legend that you used on the card, a scan of the card (if possible), the name you would like associated with it (real name, username, nick name, et cetera...), and your geographical location. I will compile all of this information into a book and send it to Kripke to show him what we are doing to help renew the show. Plus, it just makes a pretty cool gift!

Though I would like to hear from everyone interested in this campaign now, I will also be posting near the end of February to ask who has their cards ready, and get an idea about actual numbers. A month should be enough time to pick up a card or two and research some local legends. ^_~

All thoughts, comments, or questions about this campaign can be left here or e-mailed to me at deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com. And thank you to thirdsouthobbi and phantomas for letting me crash!
