honestly i would love Sam and Cas to be the ones hanging out in Purgatory, trying to find their way back. maybe that's the dispute? Cas dives in headfirst, Sam wants to save him, but Dean is too butthurt and won't. they fight about it, and Sam leaves Dean to go traverse Purgatory looking for his lost friend, while Dean works on Earth to maintain the connection or whatever so he can pull them back out when Sam finds his prize.
That would be very awesome!! WE know that Sam has already forgiven Cas for everything he can, and we know that Dean is still holding onto his hurt. So having Sam and Cas in Purgatory together would be an excellent story arc
Now I'm curious; is all this speculation about purgatory at all based in fact? As in, has anyone mentioned anything about purgatory since the Leviathans got out?
It's partially the "unexpected place" taken literally, partially the idea that if they can't kill the leviathans, they can at least send them back where they came from. I believe the word "Purgatory" has been mentioned since then, but not in a particularly foreshadowing way.
That's what I thought. TBH I'm not so sure that they're gonna go back to Purgatory. I can see it happening, but I don't think it's the most likely scenario. It just doesn't fit in my SPN-radar. Not that that means anything, lol.
OOoooOooOooo.. Thanks for the spoilers post! I love having them all together in one place.
With one brother in a really "sticky" place, is it too much to hope that it's literally sticky? Like they're trapped in a vat of molasses or something...
I would love that. We were all sure Misha was trolling us this season when it turns out he was telling the literal truth most of the time. (Swimming, being naked... XD)
Yessss. Exactly. Everyone thinking that it's a metaphorically sticky situation, but it turning out to be Cas trapped in a giant fly trap or Sam covered in honey or something. XD
The only reason I picked Dean (lbr, I love me some Sassy) is because Sam jumped into Hell last time, and they like to alternate those sorts of things so it doesn't get too repetitious.
Considering my first large-scale SPN fandom project was for the Sassy minibb, yeah, me too. XD I hate that they'd have to alternate to avoid repetition...because, tbh, I wouldn't mind some repitition, because I think the idea could be really awesome...if done right. Though the odds of that are waaaaay low.

I'm trying to keep my expectations low so my mind will be blown, just like I've done with every other show's finale I've seen so far.
That being said, I'm veeeeeeeeeeeeery excited for baby. XD

Seriously though, all he'd have to work with would be crowley and meg.
