Daily On The Set: Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things

Mar 31, 2011 00:16

Jensen & Jared confer with director, Kim Manners on location at Van Dusen Gardens.

It looks like night in this pic (and of course in the scenes themselves at the cemetery), but in reality they used scaffolding to drape black cloths to block out the daylight.

That is a fascinating fact! I never would have guessed it wasn't nighttime!

I'll have to find and post the pics that show the location from the outside. There's some pics of Jared standing outside the scaffolding as well.

It's really interesting how they do that! From the other promo pics (the non-bts ones) I've seen of this episode, I never would have guessed it was daytime when they filmed this. I also saw them use this for 99 Problems. I saw video footage taken by fans who saw them on location. It looked like it was afternoon, and it was the scene outside the chapel where Sam tells Dean not to do anything stupid... "like Michael stupid." In the episode itself the scene takes place at night so it's dark.

Always found this interesting. :)

They can darken scenes that were shot in the daytime (though darker/later is better, of course) in post-production. The colorist will adjust the lighting and coloring on a lot of the shots. So it's very possible that's what they did in "99 Problems".
