Haha, me too. I kind of feel like we got a character reset, like they are reacting to situations without the benefit of some of the growth that has happened in the later seasons.

Season 1 how many times Sam was hurt, I just felt sorry because he seemed to have the worst luck and then I wanted more attention to it other than the boys shrugging it off. Favorite hurt!Sam episode(s)? Shadows, it's both physically and emotionally painful for everyone. Pac-Man Fever because it shows the kind of continuity with hurt that I've been wanting. *nods* Definitely more Jody Mills. She seemed to have vanished without a trace, really weird that the boys haven't mentioned nor thought of her this season given the weight she had last season.
I know. I miss her "mom voice." Maybe they need Sam to only have Dean this season and they didn't want to bring her back when their bond made her someone Sam could rely on...I would be sad if they pulled a Charlie and made her much closer to Dean instead...
Yeah, Sam relates to mother figures well. Unlike Dean who seems to relate to male role models. That's why he was so close to Jody and Ellen verses Dean who was closer to Bobby and hunters like Gordon etc.

The brother dynamic intrigued me from the beginning. I love Sam the most but I also adore Dean and they are at their best when Dean is taking care of his little brother. Favorite hurt!Sam episode(s)?Too many to count. Skin, Bad Day at Black Rock, Heart, Croatoan, Born Under a Bad Sign, Point of No Return, The Song Remains the Same,The Born Again Identity, and, of course, Pac Man Fever. Favorite type of hurt? I don't know that they have ever done this on the show, but in fic, I love Sam-in-a-box. He gets all claustrophobic and panicky and then when Dean gets him out, he is all clingy and sore and massage happens. In the show, I love it when Sam is half conscious. He has been super open this season though. I like it because I am actually starting to see a life after hunting for Dean. But why does it have to come in trade with Sam's ability to connect? It seems like Dean is finally healing from some of his deep emotional scars but now Sam is left out. They seem to have switched places. Sam had all these friends in season 1 while Dean only had Sam and John, but now, Dean has Krissy, Charlie, Cas, Garth, and Benny, all relatively healthy relationships and Sam has Amelia...which was a trainwreck.
Yeah, Sam doesn't have any friends outside of Dean anymore. Cas, sometimes I think he sees Sam as an extension of Dean while other times I sometimes think Sam FEELS he is an extension of Dean. It's so backasswords it's hard to even make sense of.
