Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is this challenge?
This challenge is to "matchup" writer's to create a collaborative work.
2. Will I choose who I co-write with?
No, you will be matched up by the mods based on the questionnaire you submitted when you signed-up.
3. What happens if I do not like my assignment?
If you feel that you cannot write with the writer you were assigned, we will try to accomadate a re-assignment.
4. What is a Duet?
A Duet is a story where the writers approach a similar theme, pairing, plot, from a different perspective. So if the pairings chose they can write the same story from a different POV or genre (fantasy, western, steampunk, crime). Or it could explore the relationship dyanmic of a threesome from different angles. It could also be a theme like homophobia, incest, loyalty, religion, adultery, etc. If the authors choose to write about a topic it has to be related to the other story. For example, this would not be acceptable: Dean following his father's orders and Castiel following his superior's orders, but the authors never compare the two situations or relate them farther than on the topic of obedience. Other than that it's really up to the pairing what they want to do. If you have any concerns about what's acceptable, contact the mods.
5. For a Duet, is reworking or "re-mixing" an existing story posted on lj/dreamwidth/etc allowed?
No, the Duet must be from a completely new idea, created by the pairing.
5a. Are sequels to an existing story posted on lj/dreamwidth/etc allowed?
No, the purpose of this challenge is to create something new.
6. For RPS what pairings are acceptable?
Anyone within the established Supernatural RPS Canon: Misha, Genevieve, Danneel, etc. can be the main pairing. They need to have some connection to the show or Jensen and Jared. The main pairing of Adam Lambert/Kris Allen is not. If you are not sure, contact the mods
7. Are crossovers allowed?
No.
7a. Is RPS x SPN considered a crossover?
No, RPS falls under the umbrella of Supernatural. The character from the RPS fandom must meet the guidelines
8. Is there a word-limit?
A completed duet must be a minimum of 5,000 words from each author, and a co-written fic must be a minimum of 10,000 words.
9. For a duet do both halves need to be 5,000 words each?
Yes, each author's contribution needs to be 5,000 words
10. Am I allowed to continuing writing in the 'verse I've created during this challenge after it's done?
Yes, in fact it's encouraged. It also means that the mods have created a sucessful co-writing duo.
