Summary: Short drabble because I got to thinking about Dean in a church. DEATHFIC, again.

He feels uncomfortable in the church, which is strange because he’s been in dozens of them, but that was for business. This… well, this definitely wasn’t business. His footsteps are loud, too loud really, as he slowly walks up to the small altar. He can feel the silence pressing against him like stone, can feel the steady gazes of the saints as they look down on him, and his fingers itch for a weapon. He ignores the feeling, digs out his lighter. His fingers shake as he lights one of the small candles, and his breath hitches as the tiny flame sparks into life, dancing unsteadily before settling down, almost lost amid the sea of other lights.
Dean closes his eyes and for the first time in his life, he prays. Not for forgiveness, never for that, but for Sammy’s soul. He prays with everything he’s got in him, that his brother is finally at peace.
