Title: Aftermath

Summary: A short drabble that deals with what happens after Devil's Trap. Thus, this has HUGE SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE.
Notes: DEATHFIC. I can't believe it, but I actually wrote a deathfic.
Sam spent three days in a coma. When he woke up in the hospital, the first words from his lips were about his brother. His head was throbbing, his whole body ached, and there was only one thing clear in his mind, one question he needed answered.
Where is he?
The sunlight spilling in from the window was too bright, it hurt his eyes, and the nurse closed the blinds with a sympathetic smile. She injected something into his IV, for the pain she said, and he fought to stay awake, fought against the drugs.
Is he alright?
Her voice was pitying as she explained that he’d been out of it for three days, that he would require crutches for a long time, that he was lucky he survived.
But what about Dean?
The way she paused, the way her eyes flicked down and her lips tightened into a thin line, told him what she seemed to have trouble saying. Suddenly his chest was too tight and he couldn’t breathe and he was trying to sit up, get out of bed and find Dean because it couldn’t be true.
WHERE IS MY BROTHER?
Her eyes hardened, though they glistened with tears, and her quiet voice trembled slightly.
You were the only survivor. I’m sorry.
