Thank you so much for posting this. I have family in the area of the High Park Fire, and it's been a very stressful few weeks waiting to hear whether they still have homes (as of now, yes). I was so sorry to hear the news of the evacuations this morning: all of you in Colorado Springs have my sympathy and prayers.
Pretty much all of Colorado could use help right not and I too I have an Uncle that lives near Ft. Collins and the fires are just out of control this summer. Thank you for the prayers.
I visited Col. Springs once and it was a beautiful place. So sad that this is happening. You're all in my thoughts. I will see if it is my budget to send a little bit of money to the Red Cross there.
And I hope you don't mind (as it's my personal soapbox), but humane societies are often completely overwhelmed at times like this. They don't just save animals, but they serve people too by giving them some peace of mind and a place to take their pets during an evacuation. It may seem silly to some, but there are those of us who simply will not evacuate if we can't make sure the ENTIRE family is safe. The Larimer County Humane Society is accepting donations specifically for their work in the fire crisis.
Yes indeed! -- the Pikes Peak humane society has two locations open here in the Springs that are taking in animals displaced by the fires and they are both full and could use the funds for food and animal vaccines -- you can visit their website here: http://www.hsppr.org/waldocanyon
I will indeed send positive thoughts your way, and I regularly donate to the International Red Cross (all my t shirt sales profits go there) because this world is never short of a disaster or two...Sadly.
