We went through something like this during my daughter's teenage years:

Husband: oh, one of the girls upstairs left her thong in the laundry

Me: that's our daughter's

Husband: (sheer horror) WHY IS SHE WEARING A THONG

Me: because she is sixteen years old and has a pair of white pants.

I don't think he ever quite recovered. XD
