Sam wasn’t a big fan of speaking in public; he’d been well trained not to be the center of attention. But his teacher submitted an essay he wrote into this contest and he won this academic award that was kind of a big deal and now here he was, standing at a podium in front of the whole school.
Sam swallowed hard.
A sharp whistle sounded out over the hushed assembly. Everyone turned to look at the source; they didn’t see Sam smile down at his paper.
The whistle meant Dean was there. Sam took a deep breath and began.
