Fuck You CASA. You can suck my grandapa's wrinkly decrepit balls.

Fucking wankers rejected my medical, stating that my depression/anxiety only recently became stable. Fuck them. What the fuck do they know. I read my medical report so I know my psych made it clear that my anxiety wasn't interferring with my flying and in fact the flying was making it better. And my GP commented that she was more than happy for ( Read more... )

said the llama, have some doom! half price! today only!, flying makes the world go round

Not entirely sure yet, as I'm waiting for a call from Leith (one of my instructors) to confirm, but I should be able to switch to Recreational Aviation for the next six months until I can go back to General Aviation. I'm pretty sure I already have enough hours for an RA certificate. The drawback with RA is that you can't fly commercially in any way, so I don't think I'd even be allowed to do fire spotting and shark spotting and stuff to build up hours, and you can only fly ultra-light aircraft with a maximum of two seats. Also, while they do let you fly cross country, you have to get a special endorsement for it. And I'm not sure whether I'd be able to do aerobatics on RA. I was planning to do aerobatics after getting a GA license in a couple of months coz it looks like heaps of fun, only takes 5 hours or so of training, and hones your skills as a pilot.

So I will still be flying, just not getting a useful license for a while yet...

I agree wholeheartedly with you. That is bordering on discriminatory, actually.
Any way you can argue with the decision?

I'm going to phone them tomorrow and ask a few pointed questions, but I don't think there's technically any avenue for disputing their decision. That's one of the questions I'll be asking though.

Thanks for the postcard btw. You have good timing. It was right behind the letter from CASA, so I read it and it cheered me up a little. :)

I have come across some pretty horrid discrimination by some very narrowminded people before, so I'm always a bit leery about this stuff. I'm not really worried about CASA reading this since I'm well within my rights to express my feelings and I highly doubt that they would be searching online journals for reactions to their letters.

Thanks for the tip about AOPA - are they an international organisation though? I get the impression from their website that they're American.

I am discussing with my instructor switching over to recreational aviation for the next six months since I've done enough hours dual hours for it, but I really want to get my commercial license so I want to sort this medical thing out.
