Ah this week is pretty sucky for me - I've got my exam next Wednesday so I'm trying to polish off the last few lectures and readings before then. Have you got your roster for next week or the week after yet?
Every year for her birthday I write Siobhan a rhyming poem trying to rhyme yet more things with Siobhan, so I'm used to horribly tacky and strange rhymes. If you want something more sane though there are plenty of rhyming guides easily google-able.
Haha that sounds like fun. I'm ok with finding rhyming words, but I need some general topics that appeal to children. I'm making the second book a "Dragon Adventure" - each new song forms a part of the story, so when the kids get to the end of the book they'll have an entire story that they can play. I want to make up a book of supplementary/extension pieces that are the same difficulty level as the dragon book but with longer pieces that the kids can just choose one at a time to do (i.e. subjects are unrelated). So for that I'm going to need topics that I can write short rhythmical poems on to go with the pieces, and I don't want them to be the trite crap that's in a lot of current books. Like, a common thing is to have a piece that goes on about how awesome school is, and I know I used to just roll my eyes and groan when I got pieces like that. I think I'm rambling a bit, but I'm tired so bleh.
