Just want to ask about the retention of strength/basic physical skills: so Trunks will lose his ability to use his ki and transform into Super Saiyan, but he's still going to be able to use his fighting skills and be as strong (and, consequently, as fast) as he usually is?

Yep. Anything inhuman or based off of magic out outside powers is taken away, but their natural physical prowess is still there.
