Halloween Event Announcement!
Hey there Splendor! I'm here to let you guys know that we're planning a Halloween Masquerade Ball for the city in celebration of the holiday.
The weekend of the 29th, Splendor's time keeping will change slightly. For this weekend only, two days will equal one day instead of the usual one day real time = one day game time. From Friday at midnight until Sunday at midnight will be considered one fun, exciting, event-filled day!
The event will begin precisely at Midnight EST on Friday, October 29th and run all day Friday and Saturday until Midnight PST on Sunday, October 31st. It will run two days because there will be two parts, and we want to make sure everyone gets a chance to participate. Back threading is definitely encouraged!
The ball will take place in the large Golden Entranceway of the city hall.
• The first part will be a group post open to the entire community that will be posted directly at midnight on Friday to kick off the event. You are encouraged to thread in it throughout the day!
• This first post will be anonymous. You may remember from an announcement the other day that we now have a members-only anonymous account. You are welcome and encouraged to use for this! I'll repost the account & password again later in a member-locked post. The account will be outfitted with masquerade icons for your characters to choose from and thread with. Have fun threading with strangers! And who knows? You might just get to dance with some mysterious individuals...
• You are not required to thread anonymously if you don't want to, nor are you required to stay anonymous until the unveiling. The anonymous part is just there to add an extra bit of fun! You can also say your character is being anonymous but post on their character account as well.
• We will also be posting small posts throughout each day with smaller activities for characters to participate in, mostly party games.
• The second part will be the unmasking. This post will go up Saturday night at Midnight EST, and will continue until midnight PST on Sunday. Everyone is invited to unmask themselves and reveal to their dancing partners or mysterious new acquaintances who everyone is. Of course, if you wish to stay masked, that is certainly an option as well.
• Once again, just to make sure everyone is clear, you can go anonymous when you feel like it, if you feel like it, and unmask in the same fashion. The anonymous post and unmasking are just there for those who would like to stay mysterious or enjoy surprises! It can also be a fun way to gain some CR with random people you may meet anonymously!
• No one is required to attend this event! People are free to make posts throughout the event, related to the event or not. Everyone is highly encouraged to attend for at least a little bit, though! There may also be some initiative for stubborn characters with a slightly misleading notice talking about revealing mysteries of the city at the ball to help encourage them... ;)
• Also in celebration of Halloween, Splendor will be undergoing a slight decoration change to become more festive. Look out for some more ~spooky~ decorations around the city, especially throughout the castles :). A post will go up in a few days advertising this change IC-ly, as well as the opening of a few stores for people to find costumes in if they so choose.

[Yes, this will push our first event back a bit, but we thought it might be fun to include a fun loose event initially to help celebrate a fun Holiday! It will also help our new members get used to the feel and pace of Splendor!]
