Curious question, but what exactly is the significance behind the holiday of Halloween? Why is it celebrated as it's not a known holiday in my world.

[Locked to Raven]

Schwann. Resist me all you want, but your duties are still and will always be to me. I have a job for you and it concerns her Highness.

[ Guess who's been visiting the library? Though with as many book worms as there are in tne city, Estelle's found she needs to move quickly if she wants to grab a book she'd been wanting to read. She has one tucked under her arm now, on the way back to her estate when she spots the Commandant. ]

"Alexei?"

[...And here he thought you've been a good Princess and stayed at the estate. Keeping an eye on you is going to be more difficult than he thought]

Princess. [He glances at the book in her hand] Visiting the library again?

[ Being used to walking around free as a bird is a hard habit to break. Blame Yuri. ]

"Just coming back from it." [ Oblivious smile is oblivious. ] "I wanted to read about the Halloween custom they're celebrating here. Did you know it was originally a day to honor the dead, when ghosts and spirits walked the earth?"

[...Honor the dead, where ghosts and spirits walk the earth. Almost seems fitting somehow.]

No I did not. Does it mention any sort of masquerade ball for such a celebration?

It's more of a Western holiday now, it's supposed to celebrate the holiday of Samhain. There's a lot to do with how the barrier between the world of the living and the spirit world is supposed to be thinnest then, letting spirits pass through.

A western holiday? [...he doesn't know what to make of that exactly as his world isn't exactly divided as such.] That is the first I've heard of the term, Samhain.

[And again with spirits] And thus why we are required to wear costumes? I was informed it's to keep the spirits from possessing the living when they walk the earth. [...which really sounds ridiculous to this man. He was a skeptic when it came to spirits]

It means it's celebrated more in some other countries. Like the Americas, more then Japan. [Not sure how else to describe that.] It's an old Celtic term.

Well, the people who first celebrated it would wear masks so when the spirits came to the living side, they wouldn't attack them, or yeah, possess them. Some people really believe in it, while some others think it's just an old holiday that got turned into a holiday where kids dress up and go door to door asking for candy.

[Works for him] I see.

Hm. I'm sure there was some base to it. I suppose the Masquerade Ball would be considered an alteration concept for the holiday?

I'm sure you're aware by now that the Princess Estellise is here. She cannot be left on her own for too long...

You don't have a choice. I'm sure it's a simple enough job for you to handle.
