[You're not someone he recognizes. For a moment he gets super-excited and noses up against the Seal, barking curiously, but then he settles back again, his enthusiasm unusually short-lived. He's alright, but there's something on his mind.]
[Well maybe he's still a little happy and he'll lick at the Seal.]
[He tries again, more slowly this time, trying to be patient. An image of a closed book is drawn onto the Seal.]
[The image gets wiped and replaced with the one from earlier: it looks like him, bending down to read an open book, except that he's clearly confused about it.]
[He tilts his head and stares through the Seal as the image fades away. He doesn't know if there's any other way he can explain it.]
[Aww, Asch, you're such a nice guy. Who knew that deep down you had a soft spot for canines?]
[No, it's not so much that, it's...]
[There would be a whole long explanation of what he wants and why if he could speak, but he can't so you're just going to have to settle for the quick version.]
[Picture: an open book with Chibi standing over it, seeming confused; a piece of paper--parchment? a scroll, perhaps?--with lines that loosely resemble Japanese script, and then crossed out and followed by a question mark.]
[Do you understand, Grumpy Hair Man? He's trying his hardest...]
[Yeah, well, he can't speak and that's kind of the point. Silent protagonist wolves should stay silent.]
[Half-growl that turns into kind of a desperate bark.]
[Picture: the same as before, except now a man that may or may not be Asch, with an exaggerated grumpy expression on his face, is standing there too, seeming to instruct Chibi as he tries to read.]
[Picture: a scroll or paper or something, a writing surface, with what might pass as nonsensical Japanese script drawn by a chimpanzee upon it, and then crossed out and covered by a question mark.]
[He tries again, writing the only way he knows how, sloppy symbols--and probably pretty archaic, by your standards--that really don't form anything but nonsense sounds placed in a line. They're all blotted out by an angry-looking surge of ink, which fades away to reveal Chibiterasu's muzzle again.]
[Huff. He knew this would be hard to explain. Why aren't there any poncles here, that would make things so much easier. ._.]
[Yes he's having trouble and it's hard to explain and he's kind of getting frustrated and]
[whoa wait what.]
[Gonna take a nice long squint at you, mister. You... look... no. You ... smell...? No, not that either.]
[This man seems familiar somehow and he can't quite place a paw on why...]
[... Whatever. He doesn't have time to worry about that right now. Right now he... he... hold on.]
[Swish, goes his tail.]
[A picture shows up on the air, as if drawn by a calligrapher, black lines floating on the air itself. An image of him, Chibiterasu, bent down over a scroll and trying to read it but seeming very obviously confused. Can you help him, Mister Familiar Guy?]
[That familiarity is what brought Japan over to begin with, speaking so calmly to... what seemed to be a rather intelligent dog.
He stared at the picture, blinking a few times. That was a bit startling, but in this sort of place...]
Ah... Is it that you do not know how to read something? [That much could be assumed though... Or well, he would think so at first glance. He looks to the puppy curiously.]
[Take the "something" out of that question and you've got it right, mister.]
[He looks down, kind of sad, embarrassed, but nods. He kind of wants to learn. Because wouldn't it be cool if he could go back home to his friends and show them he could read and write? Because he...]
[Huff. But... maybe... would you...?]
[Picture: the same one as before, except now the familiar man is standing beside Chibi, seeming to instruct and guide him.]
[Would you maybe... help him? He doesn't know who you are, mister, but you seem kind of nice and maybe you can...]

[Hey, it's foul-mouthed football man!]
[.. And he's not a dog. Huff. >. >]
[But yes! Yes! Nodnod. Well, he thinks so. I mean he should at least try, right? It would make being here a whole lot easier... he's doesn't want to have to keep asking people to read stuff for him.]
[Another low huff. Would you be willing to help? Though somehow his hopes aren't high. ... But maybe he can play with that weird football thing again! That would be fun!]

Transcribing a book?
[Augh, what a pain. It'd be so much easier and less time consuming if the beast could speak.]
