Once Soul is in position, Trunks charges forward and opens with a punch/low-kick combo.]

He attempts a couple of fast kick combos, but given his weapon status, kick attacks are clearly not a strong point for him.]

The back-and-forth continues between them for a few moments. Trunks has noticeably more polished technique, and his sturdy fighting style makes Soul feel just a little inept. After all, he's mostly winging it with basic fighting tactics from school and moves he stole from Maka and Black*Star.
Finally Trucks does a sweep he simply doesn't see coming (curse those feints!), and Soul lands flat on his back.]

[They continue in this manner for some time until Soul's stamina sort of sloooowly runs out. This is what he gets for spending so much time as a scythe in battle.]
Time out. [He makes the associated "t" shape with his hands, panting.]
Gotta give you credit. You're better than I thought you'd be.
[This, coming from someone who has seen crazy ninja moves and death gods, is a pretty decent compliment.]
