he hadn't really meant to eavesdrop(?) on the girl(??) while he was looking at the giraffes, though. well, maybe he hadn't, but his snakes did make a business of it. and so the snakes, not being the brightest, begin to discuss it. what makes a human like a giraffe? asks byron. well, they certainly smell the same, says wilde. it's looks, not smell, clamors eliot. smell is looks is taste, explains boswell.
... and so on. a few of them twist toward alice, flicking out their tongues at him in order to better gauge their arguments. snake himself just sort of watches the discussion ensue, occasionally looking between them, alice, and the giraffes. hm . . .]

Well there was Lady Caterpillar... but she could be a worm if she wanted. She doesn't look anything like a worm in her real form though! She's really cute actually and-

I mean to say, it's becoming pretty normal to run into people with animal features for me!

There was.. a lot of rules to follow there. A lot of people following them. I twisted sort of game I had to play too. I mean- [ He glances back over to the man- well, snakes. ] -When I was there anyway. Here I've been told I shouldn't have to play the game.
But you see, I sorta made a promise. So, I'm going to have to finish what I started.
