Second - Voice

I have a question for all the people here.

[She pauses for a second, as if she's gathering her thoughts]

What do you wish for? And why do you do it?

If you can get whatever you want instantly, doesn't that take the fun out of life?

[She sighs]

So, answer me, Spendor. I'm curious.

There remains much Splendor lacks sufficient power to grant.

So there are limits.

Happiness is an abstract concept.

Of course. I wouldn't think you can get something like that so easily.

They wish for useless things. Carelessly. [who's still riding the smugness wave of not having a misfired wish yet? Yeah, that's him.]

Of course. I was just wondering what kind of useless things.

Food. Animals. Weather.

Trivial things, then.

Hm. Splendor's weather will change if people wish it?

Well, that all depends on exactly what it is you consider worth wishing for.

Personally? Nothing.

Hn. And nothing for anyone else either?

If I want to give something to someone, I'd just earn some money and buy it for them.

Wishes will only cause problems.

[ He pauses and thinks for a moment - A slight hesitation is heard in his voice. ] ... I'm sure magic is not just a giving abundance. There is always something one must lose in order to use it.

You make it sounds so ominous.

If Splendor takes something in exchange for wishes, what is it taking?

We're speaking realistically here, what sort of magic allows infinite use without an exchange?

Who knows. This world may work differently from mine, but it's not hard to imagine it having repercussions in the end.

I guess you have a point. Magic doesn't really...exist where I'm from. Obviously it's different here.

It still sounds sinister.

When I first got here I just wished for whatever I thought of because I could. Now though, I try to be more thoughtful about what I wish for. I'd like to use wishes to help my friends instead of just helping myself.

So you don't want to be selfish about it. What things have you wished for, for your friends?

I haven't really had a chance to do much of that kind of wishing, although I did use a wish to get a birthday present for a friend while he was here. We came from similar places so I wished for some of the special kinds of snacks from home since this place doesn't carry them.

In the future I hope I can be more helpful though.
