[The sun has almost set by the time they arrive back at Tenna and Riku actually finds the head to give the all-clear on Sora's missing status. The last few days have been too long, too exhausting and he doesn't even want to think what might have happened, if not for Splendor's anti-violence rule... what he might have found himself forced to do, if

[Sora is holding on to Riku's hand tightly, not wanting to let go. He's otherwise unusually quiet and lacking energy. He's tired, too. And he just wants to stay here, with Riku, and not do much of anything for the moment. Just... Hide away.]

[Riku looks down at him; lips twitching into a soft, sad smile as he squeezes the hand lightly before crouching down to his eye level. He is not going to ask if Sora is 'alright' or anything similar; it's obvious that he isn't, that the experience has taken its toll on him, and he can't even tell him that Vanitas is never going to hurt him again, because Mickey is hurt and Riku knows he isn't strong enough to defeat him by himself; and perhaps not even with Ansem's power. So he offers the only thing he can give and silently opens himself for a hug.]

[Sora takes it. He's quickly burying himself in the safety of Riku's arms. He's still a bit hurt that Riku lied to him, sure, but all that matters is that Riku is here and he's safe and warm. Before Sora even realizes it, he's crying.]

[Riku closes his arms around him, settling one hand in his hair, gently ruffling it. He is so very, very sorry... for lying, for not being able to prevent Vanitas from getting to him in first place, for all those things that Sora doesn't know have happened... seeing that they still have to happen to him in what probably seems far distant future. After a while he shifts in order to pick him up and move them to the privacy of his room, murmuring a half remembered children's song under his breath.]

[Sora just clings to Riku. He can tell he's sorry. He's your best friend, even if they're years and years apart at the moment. And when he's picked up? He hooks his arms tightly around Riku's neck. The song is comforting, and he's slowly ceasing his tears.]

[Riku lets him cling... and might cling back, just a little. He keeps whispering the song as he walks over to his room, one hand still combing through Sora's hair, reassuring him that the kid was really, truly with him and safe.

He disentangles that hand when he reaches his room, opening and closing the door with it, then sets Sora down on the bed to get rid of the coat; he desperately wants to lie down just for a bit and his coat - while more than handy otherwise - isn't exactly the most comfortable to sleep in.]

[Sora sits on the bed, even if he doesn't want to let go of Riku. He'll be able to hold on tight again soon enough. So he'll just squirm a bit, impatient, while Riku removes that coat.]

[Riku shrugs of the coat and his sleeveless vest with it throwing both over a chair just before leaning down and removing his shoes and socks. He turns back to Sora, a faint frown on his lips as he considers the kid.]

Is there anything I can get you?

[Because if there is, Sora better request it now, before Riku has a chance to lie down and find himself unable to get up for the next six hours at very least.]

No.

[He just wants to cling to Riku and never let go. Because, right now, he's afraid.]

Alright...

[He nods and yawns silently, then settles down on the bed beside Sora, again keeping himself open for Sora to cling to him again.]

[And Sora does cling to him. But he doesn't sleep yet. He's a little boy, and even when they want to sleep, they have to be difficult about it.]

...Riku. Don't ever lie to me again. Okay? It hurts.

[Riku reaches to draw him closer as he pushes back the blankets and settles to lie on his side. He hesitates a little with his answer, because sometimes lying is so much, much easier than admitting the truth. But it's also his lies that made Sora vulnerable to Vanitas in first place... and he never wants anything like that to ever happen again.]

...I promise.

[He reserves himself the right to 'omit' certain truths, though.]

[Sora smiles then nods before squirming right up to Riku. There's a yawn, but then he doesn't go to sleep. Not yet.]

...I'm glad you told me it was you. Even if it took awhile.

[He draps his arm over the kid, eyes closing beneath his blindfold even though he doesn't quite have the intention to drift off yet..]

Mhh... me too.

...Riku?

[He's not going to sleep ever, is he?]

...Tell me a story.

[Riku would almost groan, except that he sort of understands, but he can't help but sigh slightly as he rolls on his back and folds his arms behind his head, frowning as he tries to figure out a story. Finally he starts, a small smile tugging on his lips.]
