It depends. I walk around the city quite a bit. It's interesting to see how it changes on a daily basis. There's a fountain of color in another district that's very interesting, but I ruined a coat wandering through it.

[he pauses in the middle of the district, cocking his head and looking up at the sky.]

But that's okay. I can always get other coats.

[not that he ever would have. he reaches into his coat pocket, searching for a cigarette. It would be most unfortunate if he'd left them somewhere else.]

What else have you been working on?

Mostly working at the Clinic, there's plenty there to be organized.

Oh. You got a job, huh. I thought about looking into the job market but I don't think I'd make a very good grocery stocker.

I still don't understand why no one simply wishes the grocery stocked.

Yes, I suppose I did get a job. I don't really think of it like that, though.

As I understood it, the city itself seems to have determined that we visitors take a more active role in its upkeep. I believe the decreased Local activity corresponds with that.

I think it's best that they stay out of our business as well as we stay out of theirs. It's probably healthier for all parties. Too much change in the "visitors" could be pointless or it could do a lot of damage.

I agree. [ tilts his head to look at Stein consideringly ] We certainly don't want a situation where it results in them feeling the need to take action against any of our number.

[patchworkdoctor]

A situation. [his voice goes cold.] We certainly don't, do we.

[God, what he wouldn't do for a cigarette. He shifts, pursing his lips.]

How much longer until the wish?

Two more minutes. If I'd realized that you had something more pressing to attend, Professor, I'd have chosen a different time of day.

If this works, we might be able to affect larger amounts of the city at a time. Keeping it clean or making sure everything stays in the right shape might increase our chances of making peace with the locals.
