They probably do. Most people like home.

[Whoever the boy is on the other end, it sounds like he is trying very hard not to start crying.]

[Normally, this would be about the part where Rion would be kind of awkward because oh, hello, girl-chest, Rion is fond of you but doesn't want to admit that to himself because that's rude.

However, he is far too upset now to be awkward about this, and this... well, he appreciates it, he really does, but he just starts bawling into her, soundless except for his breath against her. He's really, really upset and this has been building up over days and days and days and... well.

This is an excellent introduction. It can only get better from here, right?]

[The tears should surprise her, but they don't. She had seen the signs of them earlier.]

I know it's hard, but you'll pull through. [She strokes through his hair, sighing.] You're not alone here. And I'm not plannin' on going anywhere anytime soon!

[He doesn't say anything at all, and the crying is still voiceless; there's the breathing and whatnot, and the tears are still definitely there, but -- it's a bit like when kids get so upset that they don't even make noise anymore when they cry, just that awful crying face.

Except he's done this the entire time.

He is also clinging to her awfully tightly.]

[Vanille's face falls when she sees how upset he really is. She begins to wonder how long he has been crying alone. No one should have to go through that. Frowning lightly, she continues to talk to him in a soft voice.]

I'm sorry this happened to you. It's...not fair.

[He's mostly been able to keep it in, and honestly at this point he doesn't care who's in the living room. He... doesn't feel like he really talks to any of his housemates that much, except Clare sometimes, and Clare's nice enough but... it's hard to explain. He respects her, but at a distance.

Even in person, when he speaks, it's not out loud, but through the seal.]

They always go home, or ignore me here once they find people from their home. Or another home like theirs.

Nobody who's friends with me stays. [This isn't strictly true - Maka's still here, Shiki's still here, Natalia's still here. He's being a little overdramatic, yes, but he's a teenager; he's allowed to be. There's something else that worries him, though; he's too upset for his 'idk if I should say this' mechanisms to kick in.]

They have friends to go back to.

Only one of my friends is here. [Though Fang is much more than a friend.] I would like to make other friends. I know she would too. So you don't have to be alone. Open up to people and you might be surprised what you find.

[She leans her cheek against his forehead.]

I'll stay with you for as long as I can, okay?

[Sniffle. He doesn't think he can bring himself to make eye contact.]

But you have friends that might show up from home. And all the friends I make here end up disappearing anyway...

[At least he's not hugging her quite so tightly now. Maybe Vanille will escape this with her rib cage intact.]

...I'm sorry. [She gently ruffles his hair.] I don't remember my parents much.

[...he doesn't really say anything, because what is he supposed to say? This is not something he's used to dealing with.

Just. Can he bury his head a little further in, in a totally platonic way?]

[Of course he can. Vanille won't let him go until he feels stronger.]
