[something like that, anyway. he had less trouble with the normal natives since he rarely went out of his way to interact with them to begin with, so he couldn't fully appreciate how much more easily he got along with most of the snakes here. but then again, he had always gotten along better with snakes than people.]

I would only speak for my closest companions, says Wilde.

[snakes have etiquette too.]

[recognizes that voice by now; looking up. were the snakes not enjoying their time sunbathing, one of them would normally do the pointing for him. but since they are, he points to one snake stretched out on a rock himself.]
