[Those who are familiar with the priest probably haven't seen him around much, lately; he sounds a lot more stressed and a lot less carefree than he normally would.]To those of you who are new here, welcome. I suppose you've had the whole thing explained to you about what this place is, so I needn't go into that ( Read more... )

I have no idea why nobody else has been looking into it.

[Pause.] Though you needn't sound so frightened.

It is frightening here now yes and I look but I do not see how to leave here now but I do not want to stay anymore!

I'm still looking around a lot, but I haven't gotten closer to figuring anything out either. I guess after a while people stop being so upset? nothing really bad has happened yet so at least it isn't dangerous.

What information do you have? And it's not a matter of being upset, so much as -- well, other people seem to have just... given up entirely.

I'm not upset at being here, but I'd like to be able to go back.

Not really much more than anyone else... but the two people I know that came with me are gone. I hope they've gone home.

I don't want to give up either. I want to go home if I can, though maybe some people have reasons to want to stay here instead.

... I hope they have, too. Not to somewhere else. [There's an overtone of sadness in the priest's voice; there's someone he's thinking of here, but he won't let on as to who.]

And I don't really have any issue with staying here, other than that I'm forced to. I imagine there are people who want to stay, too, but the option's what's important.

He's a noob. thecoolestsoul February 28 2011, 18:43:11 UTC
Are you kidding? I'm nowhere near giving up on this and I don't think I will be for a long time.

I think maybe this is all one elaborate crack dream we're all having at once. Only explanation.

I'm Soul, by the way. Nice to meet someone besides me doesn't think this is all really uncool. If you think of a way to get us outta here, let me know.

I'm Altair, and that's...

[Pause.]

Probably the least reasonable explanation I've heard yet. And no, I don't have anything; it seems almost like a puzzle.

...Somehow I'm not surprised. My book-worm friend didn't have anything when I asked, and that's pretty atypical for her.

I don't think I'm ready to jump onboard the "fate and magic brought us here" thing, either, though.

No, that was the music boxes.

They might be powered by fate or magic, though!

I did try wishing to get home, but it didn't work.

[Quietly, a little amused. How naive.]

Did you really think that would work?

You're the one who said 'wish to get home'. Besides, if this place grants wishes, it was worth a try.

[ she changes it to video because she's still not sure if she likes this 'meeting people by voice only' thing going on. ]

But see, that would be easy. Of course it doesn't work like that.

[...oh, hello. Video, you say. Altair smiles (with his hopefully best charming smile) (unfortunately he can't do that teeth twinkle thing) (he hasn't prayed for that spell today) (I like parentheses).]

[he's actually kind of hesitant to, you know, do anything with the seal. but this is okay enough.]

It seems more like a dream than reality, so maybe some people like it better here? [then, a little silence for thought. this is so serious. there's probably a movie on this somewhere. but it could be a joke too.] Maybe we're trapped in a book.

[...he thinks about it for a moment, then shakes his head; a thing that can't be seen, of course.]

That assumes predestination. I've never believed in that. Otherwise we'd be unable to affect the nature of the place, I imagine.

[that's news to him]

Can we affect the nature of this... city? Even if a music box is the cause of our being here, that seems pretty impossible.

Try wishing for something.

Other than something that directly affects another person; those are flaky. And wishing to go home. You can't do that.
