[Natalia, still holding boxes of lights and ornaments, preparing to decorate more of the trees, stared mutely in confusion at the sight of a woman in a lavish dress, one of royalty, twirling around well, rather carelessly. The princess eyed her warily, as she drank and laughed, all the while most of them were trying to decorate.

Setting her box down, she walked towards her, eyebrow raised]

I take it you have just arrived?

[but then she frowns, as if remembering something distasteful.]

Unfortunately, the senate disagreed with my decisions. They hated that I spent the treasury on such things.

Policies that would benefit them? I suppose that building centers sounds like a lovely idea, although I'm sure it was difficult supporting your economy as well, I'd imagine..although I'm sure that was an excellent way to provide citizens jobs.

The Senate? Your group of advisers, I assume?

[she nods along as Natalia speaks.]

Yes, policies that supported diplomacy, trade and generally improving the commoner's welfare. The Senate of my time are more than advisers however, in terms of political power, they were second only to the Emperor...

[and in retrospect, it probably wasn't a wise move on her part to cross them, but it wasn't as if she didn't execute (or assassinated) a few of the ones that openly opposed her back so... She sighs and decides that it was probably time to change the subject.]

What about yourself? You are also a ruler, are you not?
