Oh this is gorgeous. I love the contrast between this and what you see in the show, and between Ted's and Barney's attitudes. This perfectly sums it up:

you have this stupid idea in your mind that if we do anything, whether it’s sex or holding hands or even drinking together, which we’ve done for years and it didn’t matter, it’s going to expose us and everybody’s going to know! Nobody’s here, Ted! Nobody! It’s just you and me!

I love Barney's desperation, and the hand-porn (very Paris Letter! Was that an influence?) and also the way Marshall/Lily seemed to KNOW.

That slight by The Mother against Barney at the end left me seething.

Brilliantly well written fic. Love it.

Haha, the hand-porn was a creation straight out of my own mind.

The Marshall/Lily argument was purely about the cards, but written to make it seem as if they did know, and were talking about Ted/Barney.

Whenever I write Ted/Barney, I find myself making the Mother very hateful towards Barney. As to why, I'm not really sure.
