As you say, it's tractor-trailer permeable in the plot-holes/contrivance department, but it harkens back to those 80s TV shows with awesome teams of awesome geeks doing what they're good at to help people out -- part Equalizer, part MacGyver, part Misfits Of Science (remember that short-lived wonder?), part A-Team, part ... (the list, like the beat, goes on) ...
Anyways, just had to chime in. Loved the show.
Also, K and i got a kick out of the fact that the British con artist is played by Gina Bellman, who we'd only seen before on Coupling, which made her ultra-cool ultra-savvy character on Leverage that much funnier. (It was kinda like when i realized that Twilight Sparkle was voiced by Tara Strong, at which point i started hearing everything she said as if it were being said by Raven from Teen Titans, and hilarity ensued!! My latest voice-talent geek-out moments were hearing Artie Johnson (of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In) doing his classic German military shtick on an ep of Justice League, and Tim Curry playing a hateful, trouble-making television personality on Young Justice. Love it!
