Languishing.

Everything's a little wilted around the edges today. The cats sprawl in boneless heaps, even the slightest movement tinged with lethargy. The piles of paper next to me on the couch curl at the edgest, just the slightest bit. And even as I'm gratefully soaking up the warmth after all the stretches of damp and cold, the added heat from the laptop ( Read more... )

Ah, cool. Yes, I'm still waiting to find out *anything* about Teyla's romantic inclinations. I did think that the Simon storyline was interesting, but I was hoping it might be followed up. Meanwhile in canon only Sheppard has actually had sex (or did I miss something?) which in comparison to the general population doesn't exactly make him a manwhore, but compared to the canon representation of VictorianAtlantis, yeah.

It looks like I have one meeting scheduled so far with a committee member at 1 on Jun 15. Should we shoot for dinner or coffee in the evening?

The lack of focus on everyone else's love life on Atlantis did come up as part of that discussion, and yeah, comparatively, it does make Shep look a little unusual in his... extracurricular activities (though there have been implied or canon romantic inclinations for Rodney, Carson and Weir, at least).

And compare that to SG-1, where Sam, Daniel, Jack and Teal'c have had all had plenty of action (though if we're talking actual canon sexual activity vs. suitors/admirers, Teal'c is totally the manwhore of SG-1, which is interesting to compare to Teyla - both the aliens (and now Ronon, too), but while Teal'c's got plenty of romantic backstory, nothing for Teyla (unless one counts the limited implications of Sheppard and Teyla early on). The gender bias is interesting).

Dinner sounds great. Any thoughts on where you want to go?

Woah - I never thought about it, but you're totally right about Teal'c.

Yes, yes, yes to the gender bias. And for a show made by and for geeks, you'd think that McKay would eventually actually score. We'll see

I have a long list of places I want to go to in Ann Arbor. I'll let you know as I schedule the rest of my meetings. Maybe that Indian place, or maybe Kabob Palace, or maybe Seva, or maybe something else that I'll suddenly remember

I had a great time, but a little wilted around the edges, too. Damn that Day's Inn.

Hope work is good to you tomorrow.

Spent the weekend at MediaWest*Con

Ha! Thursday evening, I was walking across the hotel parking lot in Minden, LA (on my way to Alabama), and I got to looking at the trees and pondering the heat ... an suddenly thought "I bet this is Media*West weekend" and "I bet my Major is there!" So I spent a few minutes on memory lane, recalling the joys of seriously rude soccer players (which lead to required escorting of females to their rooms) and dueling fans and endless, endless fun. One of these years, Hailey and I will hop in the Caravan of Squee and head north for Memorial Day weekend.
