The Path to SLIS

A couple people, in posting the 8 Things Meme on their own journals, asked me how and why I got into library science.  I figured I'd just fill everyone in at once!  After I graduated from Ball State in 1999, I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.  I had gotten a Bachelor of Science, with majors in both history and religious studies ( Read more... )

That WAS interesting ^_^ I don't have an interesting story like that for my current job... and I don't have a "field"... when I get one, I'll let you know ;)

Let's see, I was sophomore in college trying to decide what I wanted to do when I graduated with a degree in Spanish. I knew I didn't want to be a teacher or a translator, then I noticed some literature classes taught by the School Library Media graduate program that were being offered to undergrads. I investigated further and ended up completing a self-designed minor in Library Science that included an internship at the staff library of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. I liked it, I applied to Library School and the rest is history.
