Love Monkey

I was way too excited about the season debut of The Apprentice last night.  I just love that show for some reason, Trump cracks me up.  However, I was very sad to hear that CBS cancelled Love Monkey a couple weeks ago -- the show starred Tom Cavanaugh and was about the music industry, it was really good.  I think my favorite line from this year was ( Read more... )

music, television, books

Agreed on the apprentice! That show rocks my face off! And I think it's hilarious that one of the guys is named Terak....like from Ewoks.

I didn't think the girls did that well last night on American Idol...so hopefully the guys will do well. Taylor Hicks cracks me up...definitely the favorite

Man, neither the guys nor the gals were the greatest this week. I was pissed that "Sway" was sent home instead of Kevin, I liked his voice but I knew Simon had called it correctly. I like Taylor, but I don't see him as the next American Idol. Seeing Carrie Underwood perform on Thurs night was a reminder that Kellie P. is a very nice gal and a decent singer, but she's not up to par with Underwood and I don't think America wants another blonde-haired female country singer this year. We shall see, though. *worried look*

"Oy" is right! Those books are the last resources I would use to try to turn people onto Jesus and his messages. That reminds me of a book my brother recently gave me called The Vision and the Vow. This guy wrote a stream of consciousness about God on a prayer wall that was copied down and distributed online, it apparently became pretty famous in some Christian circles. Anyway, he ended up writing a guide to "the vision" because he was in an audience some time later and a girl was quoting it. She was solemnly saying, "Like it says in The Vision..." and not at all realizing that she was actually quoting St. Paul -- the author wrote in the preface how he wanted to get up and scream that he had just plagarized the New Testament! So, he wrote this stuff later as a guide, which is good. Still, it's sad to hear how apparently quite a few ardent Christians have not really brushed up on the official source too much!

Interesting. Katharine doesn't impress me that much. She wouldn't be at the bottom of my pile, either, though. I'm reserving judgement on the men, but I like Paris and Kellie. I think Mandisa has a great voice, too. Intriguing how opinions differ.

I said in another reply that seeing Carrie Underwood perform on Thurs night was a reminder that Kellie P. is a very nice gal and a decent singer, but she's not up to par with Underwood and I don't think America wants another blonde-haired female country singer this year. At least, I hope not! I just like Katharine's voice and I think she's cute, I like her little Shy Shuffle and some of her mannerisms. She has a sense of humor that I'm drawn to, kissing all the judges and offering to kiss Ryan cracked me up! Paris and Lisa Taylor are also favorites, and I have to admit I'm impressed with Ayla. I knew she would do well, but she's the only one who seems to be making big strides each week. Of course, the judges speculated that she is probably working harder than anyone else and it may not be so much natural talent as some others, but that makes me admire her even more. She's not just coasting, I thought she might when they were talking about how everything has seemed easy for her. So, she also currently has my vote! :)

Yay! Serenity! I liked the graphic novel. I can't remember if you mentioned it yet or not, but have you seen the movie?
