I put maybe for the first question, because I HAVE joined such a site (okcupid) but not for the personals, just for the quizzes.

I put "yes" for the first one... but for the same exact reason as SK. I consider it a qualified yes instead of a maybe... because it is a yes... but... well, you undestand.

Eh. That's why I included "maybe" as an option, I figured there might be some unusual scenarios.

I have met a total of 4 people in real life that I originally met online. Three of them went really well... and the fourth (as anyone in my family can attest to), we'll just say it ended BADLY. However, I thought it started well... and technically lasted about 4 years - the last 2 of which were... pretty evil.

I met SK online (which I think you know), but not through any service, just in a random chat room... and I'd have to say that went/is going wonderfully.

Ack. For some reason, my fingers want to type that pattern when I'm spelling that word! I hate when I proofread the poll up and down, then noticed that type after I had posted it. Grr... *shakes fist*

Sweet. Actually, that's why didn't ask if anyone met people in person "via those services," just online in general. My most memorable encounter was with jedibuttercup, and I just met her on LJ as a friend of sh1mm3r. jttttttt contacted me via a personals service, and things didn't happen as a couple, but I am definitely glad to have her as a friend! So, it's nice to know online experiences can turn out positive in real life.

My answers are a bit cryptic, because I joined and contacted librarygal on okcupid after we were already dating, for the heck of it and for quizzes. What do you know, it thinks we're a really, really good match after each answering several hundred questions :-) So yes, I've contacted someone and been contacted by someone on okcupid but I didn't technically "meet" them online since I met librarygal offline first. And of course I'm not open to the experience again because, well, I don't think adultery is that hot of an idea, to say the least ;-)

Sorry for screwing up your stats there, at least I explained why ;-)

Before I met librarygal I had considered using an online personals service at some point, but hadn't actually done so.

I have the same feelings about the question for being open to doing it again... but I put yes... because in the event that something should happen... I'd be willing to do it that way (after quite a respit).

Well, from my point of view, either librarygal or I would have to die for God to give us enough of a sign to not get married (well, maybe slightly less dramatic than death...), and we're planning on dying at the same time when we're really old (I'm younger than her, so since guys die younger it should work out fine :-) so my plan is to never have to worry about it. But, if I were single, I would consider online dating (or at least meeting), although I much prefer the offline kind, not that I have a wide and varied experience with either :-) (My offline dating experience is as extensive as my online one, before librarygal entered the equation :-)

Good timing with the poll considering "Hooking Up" debuted on tv last night! Haha!
Ah...dating...what's that again?

My husband and I met on-line, rather randomly, actually. But we knew we had to meet each other, and everything else is history. :)
