Fri: Early dinner with labellemargaux

Sat: Whirlwind 20-hr. trip to NYC:
Leonor Fini exhibit at CFM Gallery just blocks away from the bus landing, near FIT. I discovered the exhibit after finding out about female surrealist figurative painter Remedios Varo from badriyaz, which led me on an internet trajectory straight to this gallery, which specializes in surrealism ( Read more... )

I love micro greens. Also awesome is pea greens. We've been buying them at the farmer's market everytime we go. Really tasty addition to a salad.

Glad your garden is going well. We still have everything inside and not planted outside yet. We don't trust the weather. Just last night they said there might be frost. When jamison heard that he took the tomato plants (they are in a pot growing before we transplant them to topsy turvy hangers) inside.

Luckily the peas & greens can handle frost -- they are great cool weather growers! I had a plastic tarp protective cover for them until now, for severe weather protection, and would use it at night or rainy days. But they are strong enough now to handle the weather on their own (though not critter attacks, hence the new protection).

We went to Home Depot, and the tomatoes & greens there were HUGE compared to my seedlings, which made me feel so far behind. I was tempted to buy a good-sized Early Girl plant, but resisted.

There is a woman on myfolia who has a Boston Community Garden Plot, and she has outdoor cilantro & dill already going, which she planted over 6 weeks earlier than recommended. So I'm going to brave the same, once I get more soil. I can container plant the baby tomatoes, and start hardening them off or drag them inside as needed, until mid-May.

Tomatoes take awhile to grow which is why we started ours inside in January. We planted them in pots and Jamison has bene leaving them out on our porch on nice days and taking them in at night. Hopefully the plants grow ok in the hanger. We bought tomatoe plants last year but this year we decided to do seeds. Luckily we have 10-15 tomato plants so if some don't work it's ok.

I can't wait until we can plant stuff outside because I want my dining room table and window sills back. Right now they have a ton of plants on them since the sun stays nice and bright in our kitchen and dining room. And I know the cats want their window sills back too. They almost destroyed one herb plant on us. They stood on it! Grrrrrrr

January! Damn, I might not make it in time. :/ I may end up buying a few starters then. Mine said about 60 days before transplanting, which would put them outside in time on schedule, but they are so wee right now, compared to what I saw in Home Depot.

Ah well. The greens are doing well at least. I can't wait to start more herbs, those are my real favorites to garden.

I saw at least one Dali etching for around the same price as one or two pure bred show dogs. :) The average was about twice that, but still less than a brand new car, with better appreciation value.

And thank you!

Thank you!

The gallery is a convenient one block away from where Megabus drops off, across from FIT. :)

Oh! And I just looked again online, and Stuffed & Unstrung rush seats for the first row are available for $20 a pop, an hour before the show. We went at 8pm on a Saturday, and there was NO ONE outside the theater 45 min before the show, and we noticed the first row did not fill up until most of the room did.
