The Secret Life of Bees had much less to do with bees than I had hoped. I was expecting more bee lifestyle/human life lesson analogies

i just read the book and it's one of the best i've read in ages. looking forward to seeing the movie (and to a good ol' fashioned girly cry).

If you liked that book, I highly recommend Mama Day. It has more of the "nature = good living" life lessons in it, but the story is rather different. And its one of the best examples of Magic Realism I can think of. (One of my top 10 favorite books)

I'm actually wondering, after the above movie, if someone might not pick up the rights to Mama Day and make it. It would be awesome.
