"I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that."

"Oh, of course. But do please try not to get crumbs in the student records.

"You're welcome."

She closed the drawer.

River knocked at the door. "Ms Poppins?" she called.

"Ah, hello River. Feeling better after your stay in the clinic I trust?"

River nodded. "Didn't want to miss your class. Didn't feel safe to go." She paused for a second. "I managed to communicate with a duck yesterday. It gave me a feather for my hat." She gestured at the hat on her head.

"I'm very glad to see you're making an extra effort. There are a fare number of dogs on the island, you shouldn't have trouble finding one to speak with before next week." Mary nodded. "I trust you still got the two packets of vocabulary while you were in the clinic?"
