Aaaand this is why I keep stalling on rewatching the Pacific. Because I don't think my heart can take it. Poor old Sledge is just a magnet for crushed hopes and bad luck.

On the other hand, those are some pretty, pretty screencaps, and I don't think there's any way of denying that Sledge's little man-crush on Haldane is canon. (The bits where they stay up late at night discussing literature, and Haldane gently holds Sledge and reassures him about the war, and then teaches him how to give blowjobs? Okay, that bit's speculation. Fun speculation, though.)

Also, oh my god - look for Snafu in the back of the shots where Haldane and Sledge are having that conversation about standing and sitting and textiles factories and things, specifically that shot where Sledge tuckes his bible away. WHAT IS THAT FACE.

Thanks for making me cry right before I go to work. God, Pacific boys, why must you be so heartbreaking and yet, kitten and puppy like so I can't ignore you? But seriously, thank you for posting this, the great images plus Sledge's words will always make me bittersweetly smile.

The nap scene is probably one of my favorite Haldane moments of all of The Pacific.
