I have broken down and have installed an AC in my office. It was just too hot with all the computer equipment running all day long. I assuage my eco-guilt by knowing that it's an Energy Star AC on power save mode, that it's set to a modest temperature rather than the arctic freeze it could produce, that it will benefit my productivity, the ( Read more... )

you are not weak, you are preventative. If you let your computers run in a high heat situation you will shorten their lives. This could cause catastrophic data and productivity loss. You are taking pro-active benefits for your company, and that air conditioner and its associated electric costs are a deductible expense.
the fact that you are cooler is really irrelevant in the big scheme of things, its the computers that are a capital investment that are important.

As I can not sleep if I am too warm, AC is one of the few things I refuse to give up due eco-guilt. That and the car.

After one summer in the south I lost all guilt over AC it is now an intricate part of my life.

Besides, AC is not only helping your computer and your dog it is helping you keep cool mentally as well as physically thus aiding you in having patience with the pup as you train him.
