Oh. Oh. This was so, so lovely, and you have possibly hit upon precisely why I am not so fond of second person narrative: because I don't think it works at all unless exactly like this. :D You did an absolutely lovely job, and I think we can forgive the slight cheese factor for the fact that Watson is certainly under particular duress. ;)
Ah, I have such a 'writer's kink,' (I don't even know how to properly explain this, but) you have definitely hit it. ♥
Oh my god YOUR COMMENT IS THE BEST THING EVER. Thank you so much! ♥ I'm so glad you didn't mind the cheesiness of it. I personally love the second person narrative, because if it's done well and used appropriately, it enhances the atmosphere of the fic so much. A lot of my favourite fics are written in second person. :')
I have a huge "writer's kink" too, so you are not alone. :D
(Um, because you might be interested in reading another Holmes/Watson fic that uses second person and is somewhat about writing, may I recommend buriedbooks' Pulse? :) I read that yesterday and it was so gorgeous - definitely part of the inspiration for this fic.)
That's why I love this fandom so much! I've always been a bit of a lit snob, and it's so nice to finally have found myself a fandom which is based on such particularly-worded Victorian prose, rather than, you know, a tv show or manga... ¬ ◡ ¬
Apart from the gorgeous use of the 2nd person pov, it's such a wonderful inside look into a character-that-is-a-writer's mind, from a writer's perspective no less, with all the acknowledged flights of fancy and occasional cheesiness exaggerations, and all delightfully balanced somehow. Such a very nice read :)
Thank you for the wonderful comment! ♥ I'm glad that you thought it was balanced, and not overly cheesy. I have to admit, I often wish I could write poems and poems about how gorgeous and lovely all my friends are, but I fear that may be a bit too cheesy and embarrassing for them to bear. :'D

I can't think of any other words for this right now.
