Okay, what the heck is going on with European customs??? Is there a new law that no one told me about? I sent my friend in Belgium her Christmas package in late November. She got it 5 weeks later only after customs called her and told her to come get it. then, she had to pay 10 euros for it!!!!! For her own gift!!!! We've been sending to each other for 28 years, never had this happened. She thought the guy was new and confused. Why she didn't ask more questions is beyond me since she once was a customs agent herself.

So now you are saying you bought something online and had to pay a duty? Tell me more, I really want to know what is happening. My gift to my friend was only worth about 40 dollars and the agent told her anything over 22 euros would be taxed. That's not a big sum of money.

Yeah, right? My package was worth 80 Dollars and of those, shipping alone was 25 Dollars! And then it took four weeks to arrive here and then I had to pay taxes for it which were 8 Euros.

I told this woman there that I had ordered from the US before but that had arrived without any problems. Now she told me that it was because there was no invoice or something, saying what exactly was in the package and how much it was worth.

I have no idea what it is with postal service lately. They lose packages and tell me that they aren't responsible for it and also won't look where it might be. I mean, I bring it to them so that I can be sure it arrives where I want it to be, right? Otherwise, I could just go myself. Then I could be sure, though. :-\

We are always hearing about the global world and connectedness, so why are they suddenly having fits about the mail. My packages never took more than a week to reach europe!

I'd expect 5-7 days as well. It's really weird and annoying!
