As always your paintings inspire and astound me.
Naturally flowing as the blood of life flows...
You are truely gifted...

How have you been??? I have been away far too long!
It's wonderful to see your paintings again.

Hugs,
Sandy

Your words are like music.

Thanks Sandy.

I'm so happy to see you again on LJ. It has been quite a long time. I will drop in on your journal now.

Art or Gross? albinodragon June 12 2003, 18:04:19 UTC
Hmm, where to begin...
Your painting ability and skill is excellent. You deserve the feeling of a job well done here.
People who feel this is gross will have to answer for themselves where the line stands between Art and Grotesque works. There is no one line exactly correct and drawn in the sand that someone thought up long ago. I personally enjoy the idea and the work.
I'm going to have to disagree though with an earlier post, as a man I do not experience the same thing women do but I'm more comfortable with my gf period than she is and do enjoy this piece of work.
And lastly I'm curious as to your thoughts on other such provocatory paintings such as Myra Hyzenesky (sp?) who slaughtered her children so they did a mural of her in toddlers hand prints or the fecal matter religious paintings.

Just an albino-

Hi, I'm Marissa. I haven't actually commented on anything you've done before, but I've been to your site quite a few times, and upon reading some of the stuff that people have said, something came to my mind...your strokes are beautiful, and they really flow, you can make a few random strokes appear as a phoenix to my eyes (that's what I see when I look at your current icon), I love them. They're very very cool. but what I realized is that, you could show someone your work and not tell them what medium you used, and they'd praise you endlessly for its beauty. however, once you would tell that same person what you used to create that piece, they'd immedately focus completely on what you used to create the piece, instead of focusing on what you wanted to convey with that medium. I'm sure you've probably realized this yourself, but I just thought that it was kind of ironic how people can focus so much on the specificities of a piece of artwork that they completely disreguard the emotion that piece is trying to convey ( ... )

Hi Marissa,

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate your suggestion, but my intent in making these paintings and announcing the menstrual medium is to create beautiful thoughtful images about woman's biggest sexual taboo - the menstrual taboo. I don't mind if people dislike my menstrual art. I like them, and I like making them even more.

New ones will come soon. Thanks for stopping by.
