Hazel Grouse was passing by with a pack of bread at that moment when he heard a quacking from nearby. Apparently it was coming from this cute little duckling who looked rather... lost.

... wait a minute, he thought, ducks don't usually have expressions, right?

But anyway, he crouched down to the bird's level and petted it. "Hello there, little one. What happened to you?" And he fed her a bit of the bread with him.

[quackingly]

"Qua...?" Ahiru blinked her wide eyes up at the stranger, surprised by his sudden appearance and kind gestures. Normally she would've been flustered and even scared by his sudden approach, but his kindness reminded her of when a young, dark-haired boy had given her a piece of bread...he must be okay, right?

She pecked a little at the bread he gave her, then responded to him with a flurry of quacks in an attempt to answer his question.

"Quack quack QUACK qua quack quack! Quaquaquaquack quack quack!!"

"I don't know! All I did was walk through a door when I was trying to find the classroom I was supposed to clean, that's all! And then there was a staircase and this weird City and I don't have any idea where I am and it's all really, really weird!"

Hazel blinked at the cute little duck before him. Apparently it seems to understand human speech.

"Um... are you looking for a place to swim?" He inquired, trying to make sense out of the flurry of quacks the duck sent at him.

[quackingly]

Swim...? Oh, water! If she could get to water, then she could turn back into a girl!

Of course, she couldn't transform in front of him...he'd know she was really a duck, and she'd be naked...But at the very least, if he showed her where some water was, she could return when he wasn't paying attention and transform back.

Ahiru looked up at the man and quacked, nodding her head vigorously.
