"Getting a breath of fresh air?"
The figure leaned against the door frame, hands in his pockets, watching the girl from behind. Pushing off the wall, Fuuma walked to stand slightly closer to Ema, but not anywhere near personal space. He needed to be careful with this one.
"It seems your prince hasn't been so enchanting this evening. Or why else would the princess be outside?"

She turned to face the man approaching her and had to do a double-take. Was it... Mr. Edgeworth? No, it couldn't have been. That wasn't his voice just now, nor was it something he'd say. Mr Edgeworth would have lectured her for going outside alone, even if she were withing feet of the entry back into the ballroom.
No, this person was younger... had darker hair... and in all actuality, didn't look much like Mr. Edgeworth at all. But in those first few moments, he had her fooled.
Somehow, Ema managed a weak smile. There was a big part of her that wanted to dash back inside, just in case he were to try anything... hurtful towards her. While she swallowed the urge (she could always scream bloody murder), she chose her words very carefully. "I didn't come with a prince. I came with a magician, and I snuck away for a bit of peace. Is that wrong of a princess to do?"

Not to be taken advantage of. To have the power to stop it.
Well, the latter he could do.
"The princess is the star of the story, so she may do what she pleases. However, you should always be wary of magicians. Looks can be...deceiving. The boy you came with is a very complicated character."
The taller boy watched her, musing at the confusion on her face. She was probably wondering why he was talking to her. Well, the answer would be coming soon enough.

Still, Ema was now afraid that if she ran, he'd pursue. An attempt at escape would probably be ineffective. She knew that from experience.
So she just let herself react with appropriate confusion. "Boy? You're mistaken; I came with a girl my own age."
