Computer communication long since finished, Dante sat in his chair, feet propped up on the table, and watched the rise and fall of Ema's breathing under his coat.

Three people had answered the call for the girl's rescue so far--that was probably more friends than Dante had. He smiled a little. 'Good. At least she's not alone in this godforsaken place.'

Dante looked her over again. Even in her induced sleep, she didn't seem at ease; occasionally, her brow would furrow and she would let out a soft whimper. 'Probably reliving the past few hours...' Reasonable enough assumption, given what she'd likely been through ( ... )

Miles looked all sorts of pissed, and he had to fight to outright glare at Dante as he opened the door.

"Ema. Where is she?" The intimidation factor was in his voice, as otherwise he'd be overwhelmed with fear and he was certainly not one to express any weakness in his tone.

Dante caught the tone, although he wasn't terribly impressed. Somehow, this guy barking at him failed to be intimidating. He seemed like a guy who was used to having control, but power? Not so much.

"Ema's in here." Dante stepped aside to let the other man in. "She's still out like a light." He nodded toward the bench to indicate her exact location.

After a few beats, he added, "And, so help me, if your intentions aren't good ones, I'll make sure you pay for it. Girl's been through enough." He didn't hide the menace in his voice.

He was mostly sure this guy was okay, but... it didn't hurt to be a little paranoid for her sake.

Miles didn't care what Dante thought of him, and spared not a word as he ran into the warehouse. He was used to having authority, although now he wasn't going to fight over who should be listening to who.

He didn't approach Ema, watching her sleep, leaning against the door frame. His expression was teetering between forced indifference and anger, as he clutched the clothes in his arms.

"I would never hurt Ema." He snapped quietly at the loose accusation, narrowing his eyes at Dante but not moving. "She's important to me."

So, taking charge worked not-at-all. Phoenix outright challenged him (although, to be fair, making Ema talk did seem pretty cruel once Dante thought about it), Edgeworth was halfway out the door, Ema was trying to become a robot, and Lana was out for blood ( ... )

Phoenix sighed, stepping after Edgeworth. He reached out, grabbing the man's shoulder. Dante was right -- they couldn't just leave.

"I think we all need to work together to watch her, obviously," Phoenix murmured, shrugging. "Take... shifts, you know. That kind of thing... Just so she's not ever alone." He glanced to Lana. In the end, he figured everything really did have to be approved by her.

Miles did not want to hear that at all. Especially not again. Not from some random jerk off the streets whom they just met, who just happened to save Ema from joining the church, who just...

Upon Phoenix touching him, Miles tensed, and before he even realized it, he turned to brush his hand off sharply, glaring at his courtroom rival, before shifting his angered expression to Dante.

"What is left to discuss?" He replied tersely, trying hard to keep his voice low. He doesn't even bother glancing towards Lana, as seeing her fall to pieces was beyond enough.

"In case you forgot, Wright, we're completely defenseless. If we stayed here and sat with Ema, we'd be no obstacle for anyone who decided to come after Ema." Not even mentioning Lana, because Miles knew for certain that she could totally kick his ass if necessary.

Lana hugged her arms to herself, listening to the men argue. Her eyes weren't focused on any of them: instead resting upon the bathroom door where her sister had vanished. As a woman who was always assertive and tried to protect her sister from everything, Lana hated feeling so helpless.

Edgeworth sounded angry, although she didn't bother shifting her eyes. In some way, she could make sense of what he was getting at. His reasonings behind it were a bit unclear, but it had to be serious if Edgeworth sounded so pained over it.

"She's my sister." She stated, glancing to Dante while letting the two lawyers argue. Hearing Edgeworth reminding her about how vulnerable and normal she was lessened the anger she felt and heightened the fear. "I do not wish to burden you all with this, but I cannot watch over her all the time."
